As a former director of DARPA, Regina Dugan draws a significant amount of controversy from her audience who question the morality of the projects she worked on. The continued innovation that DARPA has created over the decades is astounding; although the primary focus of these inventions was for the defense of our country, we have also benefitted greatly from their advancements. The ability to fail gracefully is one of the most difficult things to do, but it is the most critical attribute of innovation.
